Airport Aces Fourth Consecutive FAA Inspection

April 30th, 2009

Each year, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and all other commercial passenger airports nationwide must undergo an intense certification and compliance inspection by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). For the fourth consecutive year, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport passed the FAA Part 139 - Certification and Operations Inspection with flying colors - no discrepancies or reportable conditions.

According to Airport Director Mark P. Brewer, A.A.E. "it's rare for any airport to complete an FAA Part 139 inspection and not have something that needs to be corrected or improved. The fact that for the fourth consecutive year this airport had no reportable conditions or items needing correction is an impressive statement about the operation of this facility.  Manchester’s continued success can be directly attributed to the hard work and dedication of the operations professionals who maintain the airport in top condition year-round."

Included in a FAA Part 139 - Certification and Operations Inspection is a review of:
• airport rescue/firefighting equipment, training and response times
• airport emergency plan
• operations/maintenance personnel training and performance
• all paved/unpaved safety areas and runway approaches
• all markings and lighting
• snow and ice control procedures
• airport's self-inspection program
• all operations and maintenance records and logs

After careful inspection of the airport and reviewing each item contained within its certification manual, the FAA found Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to be a safe, efficient and well-run operation.
