Residential Sound Insulation Program

Residential Sound Insultation Program

To date, 1,238 eligible dwellings located in neighborhoods around Manchester-Boston Regional Airport have received sound insulation modifications. Improvements to dwellings may include:

  • Replacing existing windows with double-pane acoustical window units
  • Replacing existing exterior doors with 1 3/4" solid-core doors
  • Wall and ceiling modifications
  • Extra layers of insulation in attics and crawl spaces
  • Central air conditioning

The City of Manchester has received more than $48 million in grants dedicated to the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport Residential Sound Insulation Program.

As of February 28, 2010, the airport has sound insulated all eligible dwellings interested in receiving sound insulation modifications and has suspended its residential sound insulation program. If you have warrenty issues or general questions about the suspension of the program, please contact Kathy Tarbox at 603-644-1300.

Property Acquisition Program

The Manchester-Boston Regional Airport Property Acquisition Program is a voluntary program designed to give homeowners located within the airport's runway protection zone (RPZ) the opportunity to sell their homes and relocate from the shaddow of the airport. The FAA has identified homes eligible for participation in this program. To date, approximately 100 area homeowners have accepted the airport's offer for purchase of their home. The goal of this voluntary program is to work with each and every eligible homeowner interested in relocating from within the airport's RPZ.
